Jorge Chocair, Chilean Under Secretary for Fisheries, held an address at a jubilee seminar for the Aqua Nor exhibition.
Chile does not have a separate fisheries ministry. Aquaculture and fisheries are under a separate department in the trade and industries ministry, Ministerio de Economia. Chocair heads this department.
When IntraFish caught up with Chocair after his address he said the industry would start to get back on its feet in 2010. New growth would mainly take place in the two southernmost regions, 11 and 12.
