“It is positive that Norwegian authorities and the Norwegian Seafood Association are addressing this,” Marine Harvest communications director Jorgen Christiansen said.

The duty does not directly affect Marine Harvest, as the company’ U.S. exports consist mainly of fillets, which are not subject to the restrictions. However, it is a matter of “principle,” Christiansen said.

Cermaq, which is part-government owned, also expressed its support to efforts at fighting the import duty. “We support the government’s initiative on this matter. Our exports to Norway are limited,” the company’s communications director Lise Bergan told IntraFish.
