New details are emerging from last week's raid of Carlos Seafood by agents from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the US Coast Guard.

Allegedly, Carlos Rafael, with help from employee Debra Messier "engaged in unlawful activities involving the interstate transportation of illegally caught fish species, making false statements on federal forms, and mail and wire fraud." He owns more than 40 fishing vessels ported in New Bedford and Gloucester, Massachusetts and "runs one of the largest commercial fishing operations in the United States,"according to an affidavit submitted by US Internal Revenue Service Special Agent Ronald Mullett last Wednesday.
