Fish farms produced 67,691 metric tons of Atlantic salmon for export, down from 79,917 metric tons in 2008, and 4,925 metric tons of salmon fillets, down from 5,704 metric tons in 2008.

Finfish sales, which accounted for 89.4 percent of revenue from aquaculture in 2008, increased 22.3 percent in 2009, to CAD $812.2 million ($808.6 million/€587.4 million), Statistics Canada reported this week in its 2009 Aquaculture Industry Survey.
