Overfishing, over-exploitation and stock collapses -- we don't often get a lot of good news on fisheries.

"There doesn't seem to be a lot of optimism about fisheries," Tim Fitzgerald, responsible for seafood market strategy at the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), pointed out this afternoon.

According to FAO and Pauly and Zeller data "we maxed out wild fisheries" years ago and the future is at best showing a "flat line."

But panelists at the SeaWeb Seafood Summit tried to find an answer to the question if a sustainable approach to global fishing could actually result in a profitable future.
