In Europe, where the sector is already dominated by a handful of large branded players such as Calvo, Bolton Alimentari and MW Brands, there is likely to be some further consolidation, said Manuel Calvo Garcia-Benavides, CEO of the family-owned Spanish company.
“I do believe that there can be consolidation opportunities among the largest companies,” he told IntraFish.
A driver is the need to take “strength and volume positions” before the entry of Southeast Asian companies and products into the market, he said.
