Brazilian aquaculture producers said they are trying to cut a deal with federal and state governments across the nation to enable feed to reach their farms, as a nationwide trucker strike stretches into its ninth day.

Drivers across Brazil protesting against continued fuel price rises have blocked roads and highways. Protest actions by truck drivers halted production across entire industries from orange juice to coffee to steel, as vital raw materials remain held up.

While Brazil's main tilapia producing states of Paraná and São Paulo were among the first to suffer, most Brazilian fish processing plants have suspended production, aquaculture trade body Peixe BR reported.
