Blackstone Group, the New York-based private equity giant, must now be the frontrunner to win the auction for Iglo Foods Group.

The private equity owns the US seafood brands Mrs Paul’s and Van de Kamps, which are part of Pinnacle Foods, as well as the Birds Eye brand on the other side of the Atlantic.
