Biomar readies salmon farmers for new reality in fish feed production

Feed producer Biomar is launching intense discussions with customers – most of all salmon farmers – as it faces a new reality in fish feed production.

The Peruvian anchovy quota for the second season of 2012 is set at 1.1 million metric tons, which is down 62 percent from last year, and the quota for the year as a whole is down 40 percent from last year, Andrew Jackson, technical director for the International Fishmeal and Fish Oil Organization (IFFO), told IntraFish.
