According to Kolbjorn Giskeodegard, Norwegian salmon farmers could generate an operating result -- earnings before interests and taxes (EBIT) -- of NOK 12.5 billion (€1.5 billion/$1.9 billion) for 2010.
That would yield an operating margin of 38 percent says Giskeodegard, who works for the brokerage Nordea Markets.
“Kilo prices in 2010 are on average the best in modern time -- in any case since the early nineties. If we combine this figure with the highest volume of Atlantic salmon that is produced anywhere ever, the calculation is very pleasant reading for producers,” Giskeodegard told IntraFish.
