IntraFish speculated Thursday the high Danish purchasing price on salmon could be due to the Danes insisting on buying fish on the spot market, while the Poles buy on contract.

The article referred to said in March the Danes were paying NOK 4 (€0.50/$0.67) more per kilo on Norwegian salmon than Polish importers. One week the difference was as much as NOK 5.66 (€0.71/$0.95) per kilo. This was despite the fact the Poles should have paid a higher price due to dearer transport.
