Faroese salmon company Bakkafrost will acquire US East Coast salmon importer North Landing in a deal expected to be closed by the end of May, the company said.

With this acquisition, Bakkafrost plans to establish an operating base in the United States to improve the company’s abilities to serve customers.

North Landing has a sales office as well as handling and processing facilities in Clifton, New Jersey. It was the first US company to import fresh salmon from the Faroe Islands and has been a customer of Bakkafrost for over 10 years.
