Mike Girton, CEO of the $450 million (€364 million) seafood giant AquaStar, left the company within the last few weeks, company sources told IntraFish on Thursday.

Bob Hooey, who founded the company with Girton in the early 1990s, is now the CEO of Seattle-based AquaStar.

“I understand there was a discussion about the direction the company was headed and what some of the most appropriate business decisions were,” a source at AquaStar told IntraFish.

Before coming to AquaStar, Girton was employed by Clouston Foods and Seattle Seafoods from 1983 to 1990, according to Bloomberg BusinessWeek.
