French aquaponics company Aquaponics Management Project (AMP) has taken a 50.01 percent stake in the Cherbourg-based aquaculture company GMG Saumon De France, reported Info-flash.

“The plan is to build land-based aquaponic projects,” Gavin Moss, managing director at GMG, told IntraFish.

As part of the deal, AMP will provide centralized sales, marketing, financial management, and technical and scientific assistance to GMG.

GMG, which operates under the brand Saumon De France, has a hatchery situated 10 kilometers from Cherbourg which produces smolts which are then transferred to sea cages at the GMG farm in the harbor of Cherbourg for grow out.

Saumon De France is a premium salmon brand in France, commanding prices of as much €15 per kilo.
