In the first half of 2013, Faroese total exports reached DKK 2.5 billion (€355 million), of which 48 percent was farmed fish, said Teitur Samuelsen CFO of Bakkafrost, at the recent IntraFish Seafood Investment Forum in London.

In the Faroe Islands, Bakkafrost holds half of the fish farming licenses, and the company reported revenues of DKK 741 million (€99.3 million) in the third quarter of 2013, Samuelsen said.

Producing just 1.8-1.9 million metric tons of salmon per year, Faroese salmon is an "exclusive" product, said Samuelsen, and goes to niche markets in the United States and Asia.
