Last week saw the official launch of German province Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's second land-based recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) shrimp farm.
On Thursday, Fluxx GmbH & Co. KG released the first 100,000 vannamei post-larvae into the tanks of its newly constructed €1.7 million ($1.9 million) facility, designed and built by German firm Green Aqua Farming, which started production at its own farm in September last year.
Fluxx is expecting to harvest its first shrimp in July this year, and the products will be sold head-on, shell-on (HOSO) under the Cristalle Garnelen brand, Andreas Kleinselbeck, managing director at the company, told IntraFish.
