Salmon producers will receive 30 percent margins this year and maybe even more next year, Nordea Markets analyst Kolbjorn Giskeodegard told IntraFish.

He estimates operating margins of 25 percent to 30 percent for 2009. This comes before depreciation.

In 2010, operating margins can easily run more than 30 percent. This is because prices for salmon will remain high, combined with the costs will be lower but higher than in 2005 and 2006, he said.

Farmers have reached a peak in terms of costs, said Giskeodegard.
