Confidence is increasing among shrimp farmers in Thailand, and in general analysts are expecting a much better year ahead for the industry in 2014 compared with last year.
“We expect things to improve this year, coming from a low base last year,” Charti Phrawphraikul an analyst at Phatra Securities told IntraFish.
Early Mortality Syndrome (EMS) slammed the Thai seafood industry last year and it is still a bit early to tell whether or not it is going away in 2014.
“But we do see things improving we are starting to see more confidence on the farmers side as they begin to seed their ponds again, going into this harvest season,” said Phrawphraikul.
