Salmon production in Norway may fall this year, new estimates from Kontali Analysis suggested, corresponding with predictions made by major salmon producers by the end of last year, including Marine Harvest.
Last year, Norway harvested 1,183,000 metric tons of Atlantic salmon, round weight (whole fish equivalents), said Lars Liabo, executive chairman at Kontali, at the annual general meeting of the north Norwegian marine farming association Nordnorsk Havbrukslag, held in Tromso on Jan. 10.
His estimate for this year is in the region between 1.11
