The algal bloom reported in Northern Norway last week is spreading in Nordland and has hit two new sites, according to reports from salmon farmers on Monday.

According to the Directorate of Fisheries, the deadly algae had spread to sites in Ofotfjorden in Nordland.

“We got bad news Monday morning,” Janne Andersen, Nordland region manager with the Directorate of Fisheries told IntraFish sister publication Dagens Næringsliv.

“The bloom spread across the Ofotfjorden fjord, and there is increasing mortality at two new sites.”
