An amended class-action lawsuit filed in the US District of Florida on Monday alleging Norwegian salmon giants colluded to fix salmon prices has taken a new turn. The updated lawsuit claims salmon associations enabled companies to “switch from competition to cooperation.”

The plaintiffs, led by seafood supplier Euclid Fish Company, have filed an 81-page amended lawsuit, nearly double the original 41-page complaint, against salmon farmers Mowi, Grieg Seafood, SalMar, and Scottish Sea Farms and/or some of their subsidiaries.

In February this year, the European Commission opened an investigation against Norwegian salmon farmers in Scotland after receiving a letter suggesting companies could have been involved in illegal practices such as coordinating sales and prices, agreeing to purchase production, and applying coordinated strategies to increase spot salmon prices.
