Adrimex will be run as an independent unit, though kept closely in line with the business model of Alfesca, parent company of U.K.-based Lyons Seafoods.

Adrimex has seen strong growth over the past few years as both prawns and value-added products have taken off in the French market. Adrimex’s net sales reached €56.4 million ($74.1 million) for the year to Sept. 30 -- an increase of 14 percent over the previous year.

“Adrimex is ideally placed to benefit from the increasing demand for prawn-based products, and the combination with Alfesca will accelerate its growth,” said Alfesca CEO Xavier Govare.
