Prices for Alaskan salmon will not dip as a result of dropping Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification, said the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI).

ASMI expects prices for Alaska salmon to remain constant after the MSC certification expires in October, and so does Trident Seafoods.

Processors in Europe and Asia speculated that -- in certain markets -- Alaska salmon could lose its price premium.

The metric-ton price for headed and gutted MSC-certified pink is about $3,500 (€2,718) and chum $4,500 (€3,495), said Frank Zhou, an executive from Chinese processor Ocean One Enterprise.
