"The fight against 'Frankenfish' is not over," US Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) vowed in a statement released last week in reaction to the Federal Drug Administration's (FDA) approval of an application for an AquaBounty facility in Albany, Indiana, on April 26.

The company hopes to raise its genetically modified AquAdvantage Salmon at the land-based facility.

Murkowski was successful in inserting language into the FY18 omnibus bill banning the importation of genetically engineered salmon, including eggs, making it impossible, for now, for AquaBounty to produce salmon at the facility.
