Alaska pollock producers are expected to weigh more in favor of surimi production rather than block or fillets in the wake of the Pacific Andes saga and increased demand from Japan.

In general, the industry in the United States is more optimistic about the market outlook for pollock with demand for surimi world-wide continuing to rise and supply out of South East Asia dropping, according to one executive at a major US-based Alaska pollock producer.
