Prices for Alaska king crab went up 60 percent this year, but demand for the product remained steady throughout the season, with no major changes to customers or channels, sources told IntraFish.

“When we found out (the price), we were saying holy (crap), are people going to pay this price?” Rob George, owner of the Crab Broker, told IntraFish on Friday. “But they did.”

Some US customers did not buy this year, he said, although George did not lose any customers this year.
