With worries of a government shutdown behind them, Bristol Bay king crab fishermen are preparing for the holiday market season.
The Alaska king crab fishery opens Oct. 15 and with a steady quota, many in the industry are optimistic.
The Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) announced on Tuesday the total allowable catch (TAC) for Bristol Bay red king crab is 9.974 million pounds -- nearly the exact level regulators set for last season.
