Over the weekend Marine Harvest announced that it was suing the former managing director of its Chilean operations, Alvaro Jimenez Seminario, over alleged fraudulent activity.
Now Jimenez, who led Marine Harvest Chile from 2008 to January 2011, has hit back with allegations of his own. Speaking to the local trade publication Aqua.cl, Jimenez said he felt unfairly accused and portrayed the issue as a conflict between Norwegian and Chilean aquaculture interests.
The background to the issue lies in the infectious salmon anemia (ISA) epidemic which broke out in Chile in 2007.
