The EU salmon market has grown 75 percent over the last 10 years, and along the way Norway has defended its position as the largest supplier, Lars Liabo of Kontali Analysis told delegates at the North Atlantic Seafood Forum (NASF) conference in Bergen, Norway this week.

In 2002, Norway had a market share of 58 percent in the European Union -- in 2012 the market share was 83 percent, Liabo said.

In terms of volume, this is an increase from 300,000 metric tons of Atlantic salmon, to 762,000 metric tons live-weight.
