Finding enough talent to serve a growing, dynamic seafood industry remains challenging, even as the world starts to emerge from COVID-19, according to seafood executives.

Thomas Bakke, managing director of seafood consultancy Seafood People, said the challenge seafood has as an industry is that while it's relatively young, it's also very traditional.

“We’re finding ourselves at a crossroad,” Bakke said of the industry's current predicament with hiring during the Seafood Outlook Forum 2021, where he served as a panelist.
