Despite a troublesome year for the salmon farming industry, consulting company EY predicts a rosier picture in the years to come, with global production volumes more than doubling by the year 2040 as up-and-coming technologies gain a foothold.

The coronavirus-stricken year brought with it significant market changes, but also interesting shifts on the production side of the sector as well, as interest in land-based farming captured fledgling players and traditional salmon farmers as well.
