Alaska pollock producers could be seeing record prices for A season product thanks to high demand and lagging production.

From January through February, UniSea, Trident Seafoods and Nichiro-owned Alyeska Seafoods were closed due to COVID cases, which has hobbled inshore production. That's on top of Alaska pollock producers ending B season last year and leaving nearly 65,000 fish in the water due to several challenging factors, including less-valuable fish sizes and a biomass widely dispersed across the grounds.

The supply will catch up eventually, according to several Alaska pollock sources, but product could still be delayed coming into the market.
