Seattle and China-based seafood processor Jerry Chang, owner of Chang International, a processor with operations in China and Seattle, said he remains confident that life in 2021 will be better than it was in 2020. Nevertheless, a wide range of challenges await his company in the new year, he said.

What was the most important change your business made in 2020?

Definitely the pandemic of the COVID-19 virus changed people’s lifestyle, social style as well as the seafood industry. Our business in China was more than doubled in the first five months due to high demand from the retail market but was down after discovering the first case of the COVID-19 virus from salmon in a Beijing wholesale market.
