Camanchaca has launched an investigation into a blaze at its Camanchaca Pesca Sur horse mackerel processing plant at Talcahuano, southern central Chile.

The site, which operates between seven to nine months of the year, was undergoing maintenance work before its scheduled reopening in December.

Production at the plant was halted in July when the horse mackerel season ended.

Camanchaca said those working at the site will be transferred to other parts of the business having being evacuated safely from the plant, which was severely damaged by the fire.
