A 43-year-old commercial diver died Aug. 5 while carrying out maintenance work at one of Cermaq Chile's salmon farming sites Punta Laura Norte in the Magallenes region, Cermaq confirmed in an email to IntraFish.

Elder Patricio Kroff Rosentreter was employed by contractor Scuba SpA.

Once informed of what happened, Cermaq's emergency plan was activated, to carry out necessary actions and inform the authorities, who are conducting investigations to clarify the causes of the event. "There are reports from sources in the media stating the person had a cardiac arrest, but Cermaq will await official reports and cannot confirm this," said the company.
