The US Army Corps of Engineers released its Final Environment Impact Statement (EIS) on Thursday for the controversial Pebble Mine proposed for Alaska's Bristol Bay, angering fishermen who have been protesting the project for more than a decade.

"Bristol Bay’s commercial salmon fishery was deemed essential and our fishermen risked their lives this summer to go out and harvest nutritious protein for our fellow Americans,” said Andy Wink, executive director of the Bristol Bay Regional Seafood Development Association (BBRSDA).

"Bristol Bay was also the only region in Alaska to see strong salmon returns this summer."
