Atlantic Sapphire, one of the world's most valuable salmon farming companies, was one of thousands of companies to receive US government loans designed to encourage struggling companies to keep employees on their payroll.

Atlantic Sapphire, a land-based salmon farming group worth $972 million (€859.4 million) on the Oslo Stock Exchange, received a loan of between $1 million - $2 million ($884,000 - €1.8 million) via its US subsidiary, Miami-based Atlantic Sapphire USA LLC, according to a list of recipients released by the US Small Business Administration (SBA) on Monday.
