Chinese consumers and retailers are still shunning Chilean salmon products after the discovery last month of COVID-19 on the chopping board of a seller of imported salmon at Beijing's main wholesale seafood market.

Following the incident Chilean salmon products underwent widespread testing at ports across China while salmon industry officials held talks with Chinese customs authorities.

But even after none of the tests turned out to be positive, Chilean salmon producers now seem to be facing an image problem, with retailers largely reluctant to stock their products and shoppers keeping their cash firmly in their wallets.
