Harvesters and processors alike are welcoming advice from the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) to increase both cod and haddock quotas in the Barents Sea for 2021.

ICES, whose advice is largely expected to be adopted by governments in October, recommended a total allowable catch (TAC) of 885,600 metric tons next year -- up 20 percent on the quota set for 2020. For haddock, ICES recommending a quota of 232,537 metric tons -- up 8.2 percent against this year.
