SalMar-owned Icelandic salmon farmer Arnarlax reported three holes in one of its farm nets in Arnarfjordur, according to Iceland's National Food Authority (MAST).

The 20-centimeter-long holes were discovered on April 2 at a depth of 1.5 meters.

More than 88,500 salmon were in the pen during the time of the incident. The fish have an average weight of 7.9 kilograms.

Harvesting has stopped as a result and no reports of escapes have been declared so far.
