Demand for fresh salmon in the US market has calmed down after an initial period of stockpiling several weeks ago amid the realization the country was heading for lockdown in the wake of the coronavirus health crisis.
The fact that Americans may be buying less salmon than they were two weeks ago may inadvertently come as a blessing, with supply still largely able to meet demand despite Chilean salmon processing plants running at an estimated 50-60 percent.
