What percentage of Australis Seafoods' workforce is made up of women? What sort of roles do they have?

They constitute 32 percent, but we need more in technical and corporate areas.

What does equality mean to you?

Equality for me is that we can all work on what we are passionate about and develop our careers according to our own abilities, independent of our gender, sexual condition, place of birth, and so many other ideological barriers that have nothing to do with our abilities and way of facing challenges.

Do you believe aquaculture is a good industry for women to work in?

I believe that aquaculture is an incredible industry for all those women who believe they can make a difference in an industry that has traditionally been dominated by men.

There is still a long way to go, but we have undoubtedly made considerable progress in making this space a space for everyone.

How would you like to see the industry evolve in the future to attract and support the development of women?

I would like an industry that will integrate more women in an intentional way, that will open spaces consciously so that more and more women develop in the scientific, technical and corporate environment. Women are a contribution in profitability, security and innovation and I would like the industry to be the first to show it consciously.

Which women have or do still inspire you?

All those who believe that there is no choice to be a type of woman! Those who work, enjoy their free time, are affectionate with their loved ones, and make a difference with fair treatment to all. I am inspired by women who challenge stereotypes and show that we can be much more than just one thing.

How does it feel to be the champion for women on the Australis executive management team and what are the advantages for the business?

I don't feel like a champion, I feel fortunate to share with a group of fellow executive team members that value capabilities and passion over anything!

What advice do you have for young women out there about to enter the workplace?

Do not doubt how capable they are! This is an industry that generates impacts on people, communities and the environment. Work for them to be positive and that way they can change the world a bit!
