Staying ahead of the competition includes having a solid robotics strategy, according to Icelandic processing equipment manufacturer Marel.
The topic of integrating robotics and automation into salmon processing was the company's main focus during the Salmon ShowHow 2020 in Copenhagen last week.
The future is about human-machine collaboration and not merely replacing people with robots -- which is why Marel is working on depalletizing robots to help with the heavy work to shift and empty big boxes of salmon.
The new technology is currently in development.
