The two-year ban on Brazilian seafood imports into the European Union is likely to stay in place until the end of this year and may run into 2021, seafood processors association ABIPESCA told IntraFish.

Brazil's seafood exports to the EU have effectively been locked out of the lucrative market since the end of 2017.

The Brazilian industry was stung by scathing criticism from EU officials following a visit in September 2017, particularly in relation to inspection of fish catches at Brazil's ports and some of the industry's processing methods.
