Brazilian tilapia producers are expected to turn their attention to investments in 2020 after a strong end to last year supported by higher prices and rising exports.

Processing equipment manufacturers may be among the first to benefit from these investments.

Until now Brazil's tilapia processing has largely been carried out manually, but the New Year is expected to see the arrival of the country's first automated machinery dedicated to the processing of tilapia.

“This is going to be a radical change to our business,” said Francisco Medeiros, president of Aquaculture body Peixe BR.
