Norwegian equipment supplier Akva says land-based aquaculture projects will likely take longer than expected to build and that the amount of future capacity may be overestimated.
Of 69 projects presented in a report by Akva Group's land-based operations chief Morten Nielsen, perhaps no more than five might actually be built.
Nielsen said Akva Group receives a number of inquiries from people planning to build land-based salmon production facilities, but "it's about choosing the right projects to work on," he said.
