Chile’s salmon industry appears no nearer to knowing when it will return to normality as sometimes violent protests continue around the country.

The protests are still proving to be a big logistical headache for producers, particularly those based in Quellon on Chiloe island in the south of the country, where as much as 50 percent of Chile’s salmon processing capacity is based.

This comes amid reports of the looting of trucks on Chile's main primary north-south route with demonstrators on the streets in larger numbers in bigger cities such as Valparaiso and Concepcion.
