The Groundfish Forum, one of the most elite gatherings for top whitefish executives in seafood, will for the first time be held on US soil next year, sources in attendance and on the executive committee told IntraFish.

Executives at the forum, held this week in Berlin, Germany, announced Thursday that next year's event -- the 29th -- will be held in Seattle, home to the world's largest Alaska pollock producers, including Trident Seafoods, American Seafoods, Glacier Fish, Artic Storm, Aleutian Spray and the headquarters of key US subsidiaries of Japanese companies such as Nippon Suisan Kaisha (Nissui), Maruha Nichiro and Nichirei.
