The owners of Young's Seafood Limited have a new name: the Eight Fifty Food Group. The multi-protein food group comprises Karro Food Group and Young’s.

Eight Fifty Food Group, which has sales of £1.2 billion (€1.3 billion/$1.5 billion) and employs over 5,000 people across the United Kingdom and Ireland, was created through Karro’s acquisition of Young’s Seafood Limited in July.

“Our new name was co-created with colleagues from across the Karro and Young’s businesses and stems from there being approximately 850 acres in one square nautical mile, and as such represents the unity of land and sea and the two important protein categories that make up our business," said Di Walker, CEO of the group.

Karro and Young’s continue to operate as two separate businesses within Eight Fifty Food Group, focusing on providing great food to customers across pork and seafood.

Karro Food Group, a leading UK pork processor, has been owned by private equity fund CapVest since 2017.
