Troubled Chilean salmon company Nova Austral significantly lowered its production guidance for 2020 due to its ongoing legal disputes in the Beagle Channel, high levels of mortality in 2018 and the first half of 2019, and delays in stocking.

At this time, the company has enough fish in the water to harvest around 14,000 metric tons of salmon in 2020, half the volume expected for 2019, which is in the range of 26,000 to 28,000 metric tons.

The company plans to increase stocking in the second half of 2019, which would potentially allow them to increase their harvest volumes for 2020 to between 15,000 and 20,000 metric tons.
